WAWASAN president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin has questioned Bersatu's relevance in Malaysia's current political landscape following the party's disappointing performance in the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election, while calling on former members to join his party.
Hamzah said former Bersatu members who wished to continue serving the people should consider moving to Wawasan, which he described as a platform offering sincere and honest leadership.
"I want to tell my friends who were formerly from Bersatu, enough is enough. In Johor they lost, and here they got nothing.
"Return to a leadership that is truly sincere and honest for the future of the people. Not for me, but for all the people," he said during a press conference in Rasah Kemayan.
Hamzah also criticised Bersatu's campaign strategy during the election, claiming the party focused more on attacking the Barisan Nasional-Perikatan Nasional (BN-PN) cooperation rather than challenging Pakatan Harapan (PH).
"During the campaign, they never spoke about PH. They focused more on attacking us. It is up to them, but to me, they are no longer relevant," he said.
He further criticised Bersatu's electoral performance, claiming the party failed to make an impact despite contesting multiple seats.
"I was informed they contested 24 seats. I feel there is no need for us to talk about them anymore," he said.
Bersatu's results in Negeri Sembilan have fueled further discussion over its position and future role within Malaysia's opposition landscape, following another setback in recent electoral contests. - August 2, 2026
