DAP Negeri Sembilan has thrown its full support behind Anthony Loke Siew Fook, urging the party’s secretary-general to remain as state chairman despite the recent setback in the state election.
State DAP secretary Cha Kee Chin said the state committee had unanimously appealed for Loke to continue leading the party, describing his leadership as among the most successful in the history of DAP Negeri Sembilan.
He said Loke’s leadership had transformed the party’s standing in the state, from winning just two seats in 2004 to becoming a political force respected by both allies and opponents.
“The defeats in Chennah and Repah were certainly disappointing for us, but it was not Loke’s fault, and he should not be held responsible for the losses,” Cha said in a Facebook post on Sunday.
Cha said DAP Negeri Sembilan still needed Loke’s leadership to navigate future political challenges, including the 16th General Election.
He added that an initial analysis of the state election results showed PH and DAP candidates continued to retain support among the party’s core supporters despite facing opponents who, he claimed, campaigned along racial lines.
“I have discussed this with all members of the DAP Negeri Sembilan committee, and everyone unanimously agreed to request that he continue leading DAP Negeri Sembilan,” he said.
Loke had earlier said he was considering stepping down as DAP Negeri Sembilan chairman to take responsibility for the party’s performance in the state election. – August 2, 2026
