THE DAP has rejected claims that its 2026 conference in Putrajaya was intended to pressure Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, saying the party's reform agenda is one agreed collectively within Pakatan Harapan (PH) and the Unity Government.
DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said the party had no intention of using its conference to exert pressure on the Prime Minister or advance a separate political agenda.
"We know our political opponents say we want to use this convention or conference to pressure the Prime Minister with the DAP agenda.
"DAP's agenda is an agenda agreed together within Pakatan Harapan (PH) and agreed together within the Unity Government," he said at a press conference after the DAP 2026 Conference concluded at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) in Putrajaya yesterday.
Loke, who is also Transport Minister, said several reforms supported by DAP were expected to be implemented promptly, including proposals to separate the powers of the Attorney-General and Public Prosecutor and limit the Prime Minister's tenure to two terms.
"This is a shared agenda. The agenda to fight corruption. That is a shared agenda. It is not DAP's agenda alone.
"There are matters such as, in the short term, several changes including the implementation of e-Invoicing, which was also brought up by the UMNO president (Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi)," he said.
Loke said DAP also wanted the Government to review the RON95 and diesel quota arrangements, particularly for Sabah and Sarawak.
"All these are matters that urgently affect people's lives and the cost of living, which we hope can be discussed and implemented together," he said.
Earlier, DAP delegates voted overwhelmingly for the party to remain in the Federal Government led by Anwar until the end of the current parliamentary term. - August 17, 2026
