MALAYSIA’S exports in July 2026 increased by RM53.5 billion or 38.2 per cent compared to the same month the previous year, with Penang recording the highest increase of RM40.4 billion.
Penang remains the main exporting state, contributing 48.4% of Malaysia's total exports in July 2026.
Johor and Selangor also contributed to the increase in exports, with RM10.1 billion and RM3.7 billion respectively.
Malaysia's total trade in July 2026 amounted to RM364.7 billion, with exports of RM193.6 billion and imports of RM171.1 billion.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) in a statement today said that the increase in exports was also driven by Johor with RM10.1 billion and Selangor of RM3.7 billion.
“It was also contributed by Sarawak, which increased by RM1.6 billion, followed by Perak, Kedah, Kuala Lumpur, Kelantan and Negeri Sembilan,” the statement said. Exports decreased in Perlis by RM31.1 million, Melaka by RM156.9 million, Terengganu by RM208.8 million, the Federal Territory of Labuan by RM405.1 million, Pahang by RM1 billion and Sabah by RM1.9 billion.
According to DOSM, Penang also recorded the largest share of Malaysia’s imports at 30.0 per cent, followed by Selangor, Johor, Kuala Lumpur and Kedah.
“Penang recorded the highest increase in imports of RM21.8 billion, followed by Selangor at RM7.8 billion and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Johor at RM7.3 billion each,” it said.
