Budget 2027 may bring new relief for squeezed M40
The Government is considering additional financial support for middle-income Malaysians under Budget 2027 - September 6, 2026

MIDDLE-income Malaysians could receive additional financial support under Budget 2027 as the Government moves to address mounting cost-of-living pressures on households.

Political Secretary to the Finance Minister Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said the M40 and vulnerable groups remained among those most affected by current economic pressures, with the Government evaluating measures specifically targeted at their needs.

“The budget to be presented by the Prime Minister will be more inclusive and closer to the people, directly addressing key socio-economic challenges,” he said.

Kamil said engagement sessions with key stakeholders were still under way as the Government finalised the national supply bill ahead of its tabling next month.

He said existing assistance programmes, including Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA), would also be reinforced to ease the financial burden on households.

He added that the Government was assessing potential improvements to existing measures as well as additional financial assistance for the M40 segment.

Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to table Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat on Oct 9.

Kamil also stressed that maintaining political and economic stability remained essential to ensuring the smooth implementation of the Government’s policy measures.

He was speaking at the National Keris Commissioning Ceremony organised by the Perak Malaysian Gayong Silat Association (PSSGM) at the Teluk Batik Campsite in Lumut today. - September 6, 2026
