A HELICOPTER carrying five people crashed near the Long Lellang Short Takeoff and Landing Port (STOLport) in Sarawak this afternoon while conducting a Flying Doctor Service operation.
The BO-105 helicopter, which was carrying four passengers and a pilot, crashed near the STOLport while carrying out duties under the medical service.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) said it received notification of the incident from the Flight Information Service at 3.58pm.
“CAAM received notification of the incident from the Flight Information Service at 3.58pm,” it said in a statement.
The authority said further investigations into the cause of the crash would be conducted by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) under the Transport Ministry.
The investigation will be carried out in accordance with Part XXVI of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.
Details on the condition of the five people on board and the circumstances surrounding the crash are expected to be released as more information becomes available. - September 8, 2026
