THE left lane of the North-South Expressway southbound at KM263.6 near the Menora Tunnel will be closed as a precaution following a landslide, with safety cones installed along a one-kilometre stretch from KM262.8 to KM263.8.
Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said the closure would be implemented today, while contraflow had not been activated and traffic conditions would continue to be monitored.
“Closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at the vista point will be directed towards the incident site to enable continuous monitoring of the landslide area and traffic movement along the route,” he said in a statement today.
He said police, PLUS Malaysia Bhd and relevant agencies would continue monitoring the area to ensure the safety of highway users.
Motorists were advised to drive carefully, follow instructions from personnel and safety signs, and reduce their speed when passing through the affected area.
The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) said yesterday that the landslide at KM263.6, on the southbound expressway between the Menora Tunnel and Ipoh, had caused a 15km traffic congestion, with the situation also affected by clearance work at the site. - September 12, 2026
