KUALA LUMPUR – Bersatu Supreme Council has decided that it will continue to forge the Perikatan Nasional (PN) agenda without Umno while maintaining ties with PAS, Sabah Star and SAPP.
In a statement after their meeting at the party headquarters in Yayasan Selangor last night, Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan issued a statement saying that the four parties will reinforce their alliance with the coalition.
“In the context of PN, Bersatu will continue to strengthen our ties with other coalition party members which are PAS, Star and SAPP.
“Bersatu has decided to focus on developing the party’s strength through politics of service and care, while instructing our machinery to assist those who need help,” said Wan Saiful.
It seems that a split between allies of convenience Bersatu and Umno seems inevitable following both parties’ supreme council meetings which was held at their respective headquarters last night.
Umno had first issued a press statement after its own Supreme Council meeting in PWTC saying that it will not be cooperating with Bersatu in the 15th general election.
The two parties had been at each other’s throats in recent months after forming the PN administration following the fall of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration in February last year. – The Vibes, January 7, 2021
