KUALA LUMPUR – The supply of necessities and essential goods is presently sufficient, and will be able to meet the needs of the country, said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
In a statement today, Ismail said the enforcement division of the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry conducted daily monitoring on 11 types of goods’ supplies at 698 business premises, including retailers (523 premises), wholesalers (145) and manufacturers (30).
“The enforcement officers also conducted 1,449 special inspections for compliance with SOPs under the Recovery Movement Control Order (PKPP) and found that all premises have been in compliance with the set SOPs,” he said.
The government, he said, urges entrepreneurs and the public to always practice self-control, including social distancing and maintaining personal hygiene especially during the buying and selling activities.
Meanwhile, he said Ops Benteng to curb illegal entry at Malaysian borders yesterday rounded up 49 undocumented migrants and two smugglers and seized seven vehicles.
As of yesterday, a total of 37 sanitation operations were carried out in Melaka (11 operations), Sabah (seven), Penang (four), Sarawak (three), Johor (two), Negri Sembilan (two), Terengganu (two), Pahang (two), Kuala Lumpur (two), and Putrajaya (one).
A total of 393 individuals were arrested and issued compounds yesterday for flouting movement curbs, said Ismail Sabri, with the top offence being not wearing a mask (84 cases). – The Vibes, January 7, 2021
