POLICE are to question Bersama founder Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli over allegations he made against Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan and remarks concerning Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain today.
Rafizi said he was scheduled to give a statement at Bukit Aman at 10am on Tuesday over a speech he delivered in Selayang on Oct 20, forcing him to cancel a Melaka state election campaign event.
The Bersama de-facto leader said he had received a notice to have his statement recorded and would return to Kuala Lumpur to cooperate with investigators.
"I respect the investigating officers who are carrying out their duties as instructed. I will return to Kuala Lumpur and cancel my campaign event in Melaka on Tuesday to give my statement," he said in a recent statement.
During the Selayang speech, Rafizi raised allegations that Ramanan had received RM9.5 million in bribes, as well as a court case involving Mohd Shuhaily.
Rafizi claimed he had previously faced investigations under the same legal provision over disclosures involving 1Malaysia Development Bhd, Tabung Haji, Felda and the National Feedlot Corporation, as well as an investigation under Section 504 of the Penal Code over alleged insults against Umno.
He accused the current government of using the same provision to intimidate him whenever he raised alleged corporate mafia activities and the allegations against Ramanan.
"The courts acquitted me in all those cases. Now, a government led by PKR and Pakatan Harapan is using the same section of the Penal Code to intimidate me whenever I speak about the corporate mafia and allegations against Ramanan," he said.
Rafizi also said he had initiated legal proceedings against Ramanan after the minister declined to take the allegations to court.
"Ramanan should take similar legal action against me if he truly wants to clear his name over the allegation that he took RM9.5 million in bribes to settle the corporate mafia case.
"I have started legal proceedings against him because he refused to take the matter to court," he said. - November 3, 2026
