KOTA BARU – Due to the worsening floods in Kelantan, police are warning residents in affected areas to immediately move to evacuation centres or face action.
State police chief Datuk Shafien Mamat, speaking to the press after surveying the flood situation in Tambatan D’Raja, said those who refuse to do so put the authorities in a difficult position, and could end up finding themselves in danger.
“Don’t force us to use the law because of your stubbornness,” he said, adding that they could face charges of disobedience and obstructing a civil servant from performing their duties.
Up till yesterday, he said, 39 fines were issued in the state for violations of Covid-19 standard operating procedures, including not wearing a mask and not observing physical distancing.
There have been two drowning cases reported in Kuala Krai, he added. – Bernama, January 8, 2021
