GEORGE TOWN – A deliveryman who tested positive for Covid-19 is still up and about at work, instead of going into self-isolation.
A housewife here said she is unhappy that the worker is still making deliveries around the Bayan Lepas area.
The homemaker, who wished to remain anonymous, said she discovered this from the worker’s manager, who informed households that have been in contact with the worker to go for Covid-19 screening.
“I find it very irresponsible that this person is still working after his whole family were subjected to Covid-19 screening.
"How can he still be out and about when he is carrying the virus? My husband was possibly exposed to the virus when the worker dropped off goods at my house.
"Now, my husband has to observe quarantine procedures.
“Because this happened a day before the movement control order, my son and I had to move out of our home temporarily, so that my husband would not be stuck in one room during quarantine.
"He suggested booking a hotel room, but that could expose the virus to more people. Not wanting to burden us, he even suggested living in the car during his quarantine, which, of course, is not feasible.
“I want people to know that those who have undergone Covid-19 screening must continue to stay at home, even if they are not feeling sick.
"If the results are still pending, how sure are they that they don’t have the virus? My husband is not young anymore. When people behave this way, it is no wonder that the number of Covid-19 infections cannot go down.”
The housewife is now staying with her sister’s family, and hopes that she can return home after her husband’s quarantine is over and his Covid-19 tests return negative. – The Vibes, January 16, 2021
