KUALA LUMPUR – More than 100 foreign workers, who tested positive for Covid-19 in Muar, were transferred to the quarantine centre at Selangor’s Malaysia Agro Exposition Park (MAEPS) on Thursday.
The Johor Health Department, in a Facebook post yesterday, said the transfer of the 106 workers required three buses, which were accompanied by police, Civil Defence Force and Health Ministry officials.
State health director Datuk Dr Aman Rabu told Harian Metro that the cost of moving the foreign workers is borne by the employer.
“The Muar district office got the three buses and three drivers from a transport company.
“The Civil Defence Force provided 10 officers, while police had three escort vehicles with six officers.
“They departed Muar at 8pm on Thursday and reached MAEPS about 10.30pm.”
The Health Ministry detected the Bukit Pasir cluster in Muar, as well as its index case, on December 24 last year.
On January 7, it reported that the cluster had 779 new cases, making for a total of 1,379.
As of yesterday, Muar registered a total of 1,861 coronavirus infections. – The Vibes, January 16, 2021
