KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 150 coronavirus cases were recorded in the last 24 hours, said Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah today.
The health director-general, in a statement, also reported three new clusters and one fatality.
The fresh infections take the country’s Covid-19 tally to 10,919. The death toll is now 134.
Of the new cases, 146 are local transmissions, involving 124 Malaysians and 22 foreigners.
Sabah has the highest number of local cases at 124, followed by Selangor (10), Pahang (4), Kuala Lumpur (3), Johor and Sarawak (2 each), and Melaka (1).
“Among the Sabah cases, 58 are in the Benteng Lahad Datu cluster (55 Malaysians, three foreigners), 20 from the Bangau-Bangau cluster (12 Malaysians, eight foreigners), 13 from the Bakau cluster (four Malaysians, nine foreigners) and 10 from the Pulau cluster (nine Malaysians, one foreigner),” said Dr Noor Hisham.
There are eight cases in Selangor, Pahang (3), Johor (2), and Kuala Lumpur and Melaka (1 each) involving individuals who were screened upon their return from high-risk areas in Sabah.
Of Malaysia’s total cases, 950 are active, said Dr Noor Hisham.
On the four imported infections, he said three patients returned from Saudi Arabia, and the other from India.
“The patient who died is an 81-year-old Malaysian woman. She experienced fever and cough on September 14 and was taken to Semporna Hospital on September 17.
“Her Covid-19 test on September 22 came back positive. On September 26, she was moved to Tawau Hospital.
“Her condition deteriorated, and she was transferred to the intensive care unit the same day. She was confirmed dead at 12.52am today.”
He said there are 50 new recoveries, while six patients are in intensive care, with four on ventilators. – Bernama, September 27, 2020
