KUALA LUMPUR – Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin visited the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) 2.0 integrated hospital with an entourage comprising, among others, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba and Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
However, photos of the visit depict the prime minister and officials in a crowded, enclosed environment where social distancing, or the 1m rule, was not applied to the entourage as well as those present at the centre.
Muhyiddin and his entourage – who had their masks on, with some sporting face shields – arrived at MAEPS 2.0 around 5.20pm and were briefed about the project.
After the session, he met patients at the low-risk Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centre before touring the hospital.
The integrated hospital will begin operations on January 24, aiming to stabilise Covid-19 patients in categories three, four, and five before they are sent for intensive treatment to another hospital.
Malaysia today registered 3,631 fresh cases of Covid-19 today, the second highest daily count in the country since the pandemic began.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country also recorded 14 deaths, bringing the death toll to 619.
The entire country, except Sarawak, will be placed under movement control order with Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob saying the six new states to be placed under lockdown are Kedah, Perak, Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Terengganu, and Perlis.
