SINGAPORE – A 46-year-old Malaysian woman is among the four new cases of local Covid-19 transmission reported in Singapore yesterday, said the Health Ministry.
The patient, labelled Case 59,513, is a sales staffer at Toppan Merrill Pte Ltd on Church Street, but does not interact with clients, said the ministry in its report last night.
It said the woman was a “household contact” of another Covid-19 patient, a 28-year-old Malaysian woman employed at BS Industrial & Construction Supply Pte Ltd who was confirmed positive for the disease two days ago.
“(Case 59,513) developed a blocked nose on January 19 and stayed at home for most of the day. As she had been identified as a close contact of Case 59,474, she was contacted by the ministry on January 20 and placed under quarantine.”
It said the woman was tested for the coronavirus at Sengkang General Hospital.
“Her test came back positive on the same day. Her serology test result returned negative, indicating that it is likely a current infection.”
The cluster stemming from Case 59,429 now has seven cases, including three other Malaysians.
As of noon yesterday, Singapore registered 38 new infections, of which 34 were imported, taking the republic’s total to 59,235. – Bernama, January 22, 2021
