KOTA KINABALU – Bersatu deputy youth chief Ceasar Mandela Malakun has slammed the opposition for seeking an annulment on the emergency order.
“Clause (1) of Article 150 states that if the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is satisfied that a grave emergency exists whereby the security, or the economic life, or public order in the Federation or any part thereof is threatened, he may issue a Proclamation of Emergency, making therein a declaration to that effect.
“(Therefore, opposition leader Datuk Seri) Anwar, Warisan and everyone else should respect the Agong’s decision and focus on the fight against Covid-19.”
Ceasar Mandela said this when asked about the opposition’s letters appealing for the Agong to annul the emergency proclamation.
The country is under an emergency order until August 1 or earlier if deemed fit.

Anwar, who is Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman and PKR president, said on January 14 that he had also written to the Agong to appeal for the emergency order to be rescinded.
He said Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s proposal for an emergency proclamation under Article 150 of the federal constitution was without “legitimacy”, following the decline in parliamentary support for Muhyiddin’s leadership.
Anwar yesterday said more than 114 MPs oppose the nationwide emergency order.
