MELAKA – The state government is allowing a maximum of 500 worshippers to perform obligatory and Friday prayers at government mosques from tomorrow, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali.
In a statement today, he said the prayers are also allowed at kariah and institution mosques, with a 250-worshipper limit, as well as at surau, with a 75-worshipper limit – both subjected to the one-metre physical distancing rule.
“The mosques and surau are also required to read the ‘qunut nazilah’ after Friday prayers for three weeks from Friday (January 29), to pray for the safety of the people.”
Sulaiman said Maghrib lectures, Yassin recitals, and tahlil on Thursday nights are also allowed at mosques in the state, while other lectures and programmes are postponed.
He said other religious services, involving marriage, divorce and reconciliation, will be conducted via appointments. – Bernama, January 27, 2021
