SINGAPORE – Three Malaysian men are among 32 new asymptomatic imported Covid-19 cases reported in Singapore yesterday, said the republic’s Health Ministry.

In its report last night, the ministry said the trio are work permit holders who arrived from their home country.

As of noon yesterday, Singapore recorded a total of 34 new imported infections.

A 29-year-old female permanent resident who returned from Malaysia is also among the asymptomatic cases.

The republic registered two imported cases, from Bangladesh and India, who preliminarily tested positive for the B117 strain.

The arrival from Bangladesh has been identified as a flight contact of Case 59,423, a fellow countryman.

The other imported cases came from Indonesia, Oman, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Romania, the United Arab Emirates and the United States.

The latest infections take Singapore’s total to 59,425.

No new cluster was reported, keeping the figure at six.

To date, the country has logged 29 deaths from the coronavirus. – Bernama, January 29, 2021
