KUALA LUMPUR – The government has granted exemptions to all private vehicle owners on the renewal of their motor vehicle licence (LKM) and competent driving licence (CDL) from February 1 until March 31.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong in a statement today said drivers must, however, have valid motor vehicle insurance and display their e-cover notes on their vehicles or present it to traffic enforcement personnel upon request.
“Those whose LKM and CDL have expired or will be expiring must renew their respective licences within 30 days after the exemption period or until April 30," he said.
Wee said the exemption is being given to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) as stipulated by the National Security Council to reduce congestion in public places.
However, the exemption is not being extended to commercial vehicle owners (GDL) and vocational licence holders (PSV) as their related renewal services are allowed to operate as essential services during the MCO period.
Initially, exemption to renew the LKM and CDL was extended from March 25 to September 30 last year during MCO 1.0. – Bernama, January 29, 2021
