KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia today registered 5,728 new Covid-19 cases, an all-time high, up three from yesterday’s 5,725.

The Health Ministry in a statement today said this takes the cumulative number of cases in the country to 209,661, with 47,388 active cases.

Another 13 fatalities were recorded, taking the death toll to 746.

Of these, 12 deaths involved Malaysians. Three of the deceased had already succumbed to the virus when they were brought to the hospital.

Selangor recorded the highest number of new infections today at 3,287 cases, followed by Johor (792 cases), Kuala Lumpur (480), Sabah (263), Sarawak (191), Negri Sembilan (158), Perak (112), Penang (101), Kedah (99), Terengganu (85), Pahang (51), Melaka (42), Kelantan (28) and Putrajaya (12). Perlis did not record any infection today.

As for clusters, 387 remain active, after 16 new ones were identified today.

Of these, six new clusters were identified in Johor, involving various workplaces; two in Selangor; two in Kuala Lumpur; three in Pahang; and one each in Terengganu and Sabah.
