KOTA KINABALU – The Perikatan Nasional government must terminate Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali from his cabinet post if it wants to boost the economy, said Sabah PKR Youth.
Information chief Razeef Rakimin, in a statement today, said the prime minister could remove Azmin as international trade and industry minister, or Azmin could quit.
“Azmin failed in both the Pakatan Harapan and PN governments.
“Last month, Fitch Ratings downgraded Malaysia’s long-term foreign currency issuer default rating to ‘BBB+’ from ‘A-’. The downgrade is a first since the financial crisis 20 years ago.
“The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development also published a report on January 24, stating that Malaysia’s foreign direct investment has contracted 68% – which is worse than other Asean countries.”
He said foreign investors slammed on the brakes when PN took over Putrajaya and failed to manage the economy well during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“This proves that Azmin is not qualified to have a ministerial position, what more, one that is related to the economy.
“During the movement control order last March, Umno leaders claimed that Azmin was too focused on his personal agenda. Until today, his PN allies do not have confidence in him.
“What is worse is that Azmin has failed to help Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (manage the economy) amid the pandemic.” – The Vibes, January 31, 2021
