MELAKA – The remand order against the mother and stepfather of a 7-year-old boy found drowned in a tub at the family’s home in Taman Krubong Jaya here last week has been extended by another seven days.
Melaka contingent police headquarters Criminal Investigation Department chief Mohd Sukri Kaman, in a statement, said the remand, which was originally slated to expire today, has been extended to February 12 to facilitate investigations.
“The remand order was issued by Ayer Keroh magistrates’ court assistant registrar Mohd Anuar Ostadi today. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty upon conviction.”
The boy died on January 29, believed to be of abuse inflicted by his mother, 32, and stepfather, 38.
The child allegedly drowned, but preliminary investigations found injuries on his body. – Bernama, February 5, 2021
