KOTA BARU – The Federal Territories Ministry will launch the construction of 12,000 housing units under the Caring Residency in Putrajaya on February 22, said its minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa.
He said all the units, priced below RM200,000, will be built at strategic locations including Presint 7 and 9, and the project is expected to be completed within 24 to 30 months.
About 8,000 of the units are from five projects under the previous 1Malaysia Civil Servant Housing Programme (PPA1M), which were partly abandoned and have been modified into Caring Residency units with the approval of the cabinet.
“Meanwhile, four more projects involving 4,000 housing units will be developed under request for proposal (RFP) for developers that will be openly selected,” he told reporters after attending the Chinese New Year hamper presentation gimmick at Taman Puspa, Kok Lanas, near here today.
Annuar also said a day after the launch of the project, application can be made on the ministry’s website by those who want to own an affordable home, with priority to be given to civil servants and young families.
“In addition, we expect that the units, priced at RM200,000 with three rooms and two bathrooms, will be able to be filled with the current backlog of those who failed to buy a house priced at RM300,000 under the previous Rumah Wilayah scheme.
“We have also checked the data and statistics and found that many have been unable to continue purchasing the units under the Rumah Wilayah scheme. However, they need to reapply so that we can see the actual projection on demand,” he added. – Bernama, February 6, 2021
