TUARAN – Three men died in a freak accident here when a military lorry rammed into a motorcycle and a car along the Berungis-Tengilan road, near Marabahai Spurs here, at 8am today.
The victims were identified as Jul Amri Shamsudin, 25, who was riding the motorcycle, Il Yasa Shamsudin, 35, his pillion rider, and police officer Corporal Shamsully Adly, 45, who was driving the car.
Tuaran district police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Hamizi Halim said that early investigations showed that the lorry was heading from Tamparuli to Tenghilan when a motorcycle made a sudden exit from a junction and got rammed by the lorry.
“The motorcyclist and pillion rider were dragged to the access road, succumbed to serious injuries and died at the scene.
“At the same time, the lorry also rammed into a Perodua Kancil from the opposite lane. The driver was seriously injured and was trapped in the car. He was later pronounced dead at the scene,” he said.
Mohd Hamizi said the military lorry’s driver aged 24 was unharmed from the accident.
The case is still being investigated under Section 41 (1) of Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving, he said. – The Vibes, February 6, 2021.
