KUCHING – Sarawak’s floods have ended, with the last relief centre, at SK Tanah Puteh in Serian, closed at 4pm today.
The state Disaster Management Committee secretariat, in a statement, said all 338 evacuees at the centre have returned home.
The centre was shut four hours after the one at the Serian community hall, which housed 148 evacuees, was closed.
The third wave of floods in Sarawak began on February 3, leading to 1,071 people in five districts seeking shelter at 19 relief centres.
Apart from Serian, the other affected districts were Simunjan, Samarahan, Tatau and Song. – Bernama, February 9, 2021
