BUTTERWORTH – Two policemen are being cheered on social media after they returned a wallet containing more than RM500 cash while on rounds in their patrol car at the Bagan Ajam rest and recreation area in Butterworth.

Their honesty and trustworthiness came in for praise from some netizens today.

Among the comments was that while people have seen and heard bad things about police behaviour, this incident showed that policemen on duty by and large live up to their principles.

The policemen went back to the rest area after an hour and returned the wallet to the owner who was there.

Seberang Prai Utara district police chief Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the officers found the wallet at the toilet in the rest and recreational area when they arrived for an inspection at about 2pm yesterday.

He commended corporals Mohd Syakiran Alias and Mohd Afendy Osman for their honesty.

“They left their contact numbers with the security guard on duty and asked to be called if anyone was looking for the wallet.

“The owner was happy to recover the wallet and thanked the policemen as everything was intact in it,” Noorzainy said.

He said the two policemen had become a model for the force, urging all his men and women to emulate their conduct. – The Vibes, February 14, 2021
