KOTA KINABALU – The Covid-19 pandemic inflicted a devastating impact on the country’s tourism and hospitality industry since last year.
However on Valentine’s Day, Sabah hotels had something to cheer about as the majority of their romantic dinner offers were fully booked, thanks to couples taking the opportunity to celebrate the lovers day.
Sutera Harbour Resorts communications manager Tracy Chin said their Valentine’s Day dining promotions were fully snapped up.
“Our Ferdinand’s restaurant at the Magellan Sutera Resort and Horizons restaurant at the Pacific Sutera Hotel received reservations for 40 couples and 38 couples, respectively.
“They were offered a set menu with only two persons per table, and had to adhere to strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) as per government regulations.”
She said couples will enjoy a six-course set Valentine’s Day dinner at the Magellan Sutera Resort, or a five-course set dinner at the Pacific Sutera Hotel, plus a complimentary stalk of rose.
“We have al fresco restaurants at the Magellan Sutera Resort and Sutera Harbour Marina, Golf and Country Club, as well as the Marina Cafe and The Terrace restaurants to cater for walk-in customers,” Chin told The Vibes yesterday.
Meanwhile, Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa communications director Claudina Wong said they have three restaurants, but only two offered a dine-in Valentine’s Day menu – Coco-Joe’s Bar and Grill and the exclusive Horizon Club Lounge.
“Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru’s Valentine’s Day dinner is in high demand and we have opened up two outlets for the celebration.
“Couples will enjoy a four-course dinner set inclusive of two glasses of house wine.
“Both outlets are close to capacity, and we’re in full compliance with government SOPs where tables are 2m apart, with only two persons per table.” – The Vibes, February 15, 2021
