KOTA KINABALU – The number of Covid-19 cases in most Sabah districts have waned, but many districts remain designated as red zones despite the improvements.

Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the alert for red zone districts will only be lifted if numbers continue to recede in the next two weeks.

The 17 Sabah districts remain red zones despite the number of cases are at below 40.

“The low numbers must be consistently maintained for two weeks before the colour zoning can be changed,” he told The Vibes today.

Tawau, Kinabatangan, Keningau, Kota Kinabalu, Papar, Lahad Datu, Putatan, Kalabakan, Penampang, Sipitang, Tuaran, Kunak, Kota Belud, Sandakan, Kota Marudu, Ranau and Kudat have remained as red zones since February 7.

Meanwhile Semporna, Ranau, Tenom, Nabawan, Tambunan and Beaufort are classified as orange zones.

Pitas, Telupid, Kuala Penyu and Tongod, on the other hand, were classified yellow today, marking improvements in the Covid-19 situation in Sabah. – The Vibes, February 14, 2021
