KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today launched education programme DidikTV Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia (DidikTV KPM).
DidikTV KPM airs on Channel 107 on MYTV, Channel 147 on Astro, and ntv7 on TV Unifi, from 7am to midnight daily.
In his speech, Muhyiddin said DidikTV KPM will broadcast programmes based on the Education Ministry’s curriculum and co-curriculum, as well as news related to education covering preschool to Form 6, “edutainment” programmes and student-generated content.
Lifelong learning content that focuses on good values and character development will also be aired, he said.
“I am confident that DidikTV KPM will be able to assist in the implementation of home-based teaching and learning, especially for students who do not have access to online education. Parents can also watch DidikTV KPM with their children.”
He said the ministry has revived education TV programmes since the first movement control order (MCO) was implemented on March 18 last year, to ensure students who lack internet access and digital devices are not left out.
“The government is aware that education is one of the sectors most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. It’s a difficult situation, and the ministry has had to close schools during the MCO period.
“When schools are closed, face-to-face teaching and learning is not possible. However, the ministry is committed to continue providing education access to more than five million students.”
He said he was impressed with the methods utilised by teacher Arzman Saad for Mathematics Paper 1 in the Road to Success SPM 2020 programme on ntv7, saying they are creative and easily understood by Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates.
Road to Success SPM 2020, previously broadcast during the DidikTV slot on ntv7, sees teachers discussing techniques to answer SPM questions.
Muhyiddin said he is confident that many teachers have the skills and expertise to deliver learning content creatively.
