PASIR MAS – Another three houses have been destroyed following the collapse yesterday of Sg Kelantan’s riverbank near Dataran Air Muleh in Kg Jalan Pohon Chelagi here.
Pasir Mas fire chief Shapawi Stapa said 98 people from 45 families have been evacuated.
“To date, four houses have been destroyed, the latest at 9pm yesterday.
“Two more houses are on the verge of collapse as ground movements are still active,” he told reporters at the scene today.
He said the affected area has increased by 3m since yesterday evening, adding that a Perodua Myvi has also been damaged.
“The authorities will continue to monitor the situation. All those living in the landslide-prone area have been instructed to move to a safe place.”
Checks by Bernama found fresh cracks in a road near the scene, and security heightened to prevent people from coming near.
Various government agencies, among them the Public Works, and Irrigation and Drainage Departments, have deployed personnel to the area. – Bernama, February 18, 2021
