Trader pleads not guilty to raping stepdaughter

BUTTERWORTH – A trader pleaded not guilty when he was charged in the sessions court here today for raping his stepdaughter in a car on February 4.

The 43-year-old accused pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to him in front of judge Noor Aini Yusof.

The man also told the court that he did not have a guarantor and has health problems.

“I have lung and kidney problems, and am still receiving treatment at a hospital," he said.

Noor Aini did not allow the accused to be released on bail, and medical results and DNA reports will be presented at the next mention on March 18.

The prosecution was headed by deputy public prosecutor Muhamad Syeqal Che Murat, while the accused was unrepresented.

According to the charge, the man is accused of raping his 15-year-old stepdaughter in a car on the side of Jalan Bagan Jermal at about 6.30pm on February 4.

He is charged under Section 376 (2) of the Penal Code and is liable to imprisonment not exceeding 20 years and whipping if convicted. – The Vibes, February 18, 2021
