KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia logged 2,936 fresh Covid-19 infections and 13 deaths today, said the Health Ministry.
This brings the cumulative cases in the country to 239,971 and the death toll to 1,043.
Some 4,889 patients have recovered while 220 remain in intensive care, with 104 requiring breathing support.
Of the new cases today, 17 were imported.
Selangor remains the state with the highest number of new cases at 978, followed by Johor (730), Kuala Lumpur (227), Sarawak (199), Negri Sembilan (191), Penang (188), Perak (155) and Sabah (101).
The state with fewer than 100 cases are Kelantan with 38 cases, followed by Terengganu (37), Kedah (36), Pahang (26), Melaka (26), Putrajaya (3) and Labuan (1).
Perlis did not register any new cases.
The ministry recorded 13 new clusters – five in Johor, two in Selangor, two in Sarawak, two in Terengganu, one each in Kuala Lumpur and Sabah.
Clusters in Johor are mostly worksite related. Jalan Murni 12 detected 339 cases, followed by Jalan Kota Murni (12), Jalan Indah Utama (23), Parit Haji Khamis (9) and Jalan Mutahir (7).
In Selangor, the Kompleks Perabut cluster has 21 cases, while Jalan Sementa has 12 cases.
Meanwhile, Sarawak’s Kejatau and Jalan Green clusters have seven and six cases, respectively.
Terengganu’s two clusters – Bukit Petiti and Kubang Jambu – recorded 15 and seven cases, respectively.
Kuala Lumpur’s Jalan Kuchai cluster has 14 cases, while Sabah’s Singgahmata cluster notched 11 cases. – The Vibes, February 19, 2021
