KUALA LUMPUR – Veteran actor Datuk Hans Isaac has brushed aside speculation he will contest the Ampang parliamentary seat in the next general election.

This comes after posts on social media indicated that he had joined PKR and would be running on the party’s ticket for the seat currently held by Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin.

The claims also come several months after Hans was rumoured to have made an entry into politics, although which party he would join was not known then.

Confirming to The Vibes that he recently joined PKR, Hans stressed that contesting a seat is not for him to decide.

“I am not in the capacity to (make) this decision,” he said when contacted yesterday.

“For the record, I have never said this, but I must admit that it’s been asked in many of my interviews in the last few months.”

Twitter user @EppyFizul yesterday posted two photographs of Hans with several PKR members. The post was accompanied by the caption “Zuraida is shaking…”.

Another Twitter account, with the handle @akukeadilan_, also posted a photograph of Hans with party members and asked whether he is a potential candidate for the seat.

Hans confirmed that the photographs were taken on Monday at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya.

He said that he is merely “a regular party member” attending an interview for the party organ Suara Keadilan.

“As of today, I will only focus on the work in Ampang for the party, unity in Ampang is key and helping the many that are in need is our focus,” Hans said.

“We will try and help with the little we have,” he added. – The Vibes, March 3, 2021
