BAGAN SERAI – Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria today lodged a report over a defamatory allegation against him and his party in relation with Tronoh assemblyman Paul Yong’s rape case.

Razman filed the report urging police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to take action against satirical Twitter account Harakatdaily, which uploaded a statement related to the case.

“The statement is false, defamatory and malicious, and out to tarnish my and PAS’ image,” he said, rubbishing the claim.

The satirical account had uploaded a poster with a caption saying Perak PAS has instructed its members to pray that the rape charges against Yong be dropped.

Razman, who is also state plantation, agriculture and food industry committee chairman, said his lawyer is considering filing a defamation suit against the account, adding that the country’s legal system should always be respected by all parties. – Bernama, March 8, 2021
