GEORGE TOWN – The Penang DAP elections have resulted in a landslide victory for Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who was the party’s incumbent state chairman.

Following closely behind are party veterans Phee Boon Poh and Lay Hock Peng, the kingmaker from the Kepala Batas parliamentary area.

Party secretary Lim Hui Ying, the sister of DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, also fared well, finishing in the top five.

Deputy Chief Minister II Dr P. Ramasamy and state executive councillors member Zairil Khir Johari have also been voted into the state committee after having lost out in 2018.

Chow garnered the most votes with 1,211 votes while Lim bagged 980 votes.

Following close behind from the warlords faction was Phee Boon Poh with 1,041 votes. His brother, Phee Boon Chee, managed to maintain his position in the committee with 734 votes. 

The others in the top 15 are Teh Lai Heng, Steven Sim Chee Keong, Jason H’ng Mooi Lye, Soon Lip Chee, Yeoh Soon Hin, Wong Hon Wai, R.S.N. Rayer and Jagdeep Singh Deo.

The fifteen representatives were elected to the state committee among 44 candidates from some 270 branches across the state. – The Vibes, March 21, 2021
