Datuk Seri charged with molesting daughter, insulting her modesty

KUALA LUMPUR – A businessman with the Datuk Seri title was charged at the magistrates’ court here today with three counts of molesting and insulting the modesty of his 21-year-old daughter.

The man, who owns several convenience stores in the Klang Valley, pleaded not guilty to the charges before magistrate Wong Chai Sia. 

The 49-year-old was charged with two counts of molesting his daughter by using force, with the intent to outrage her modesty, in the living room and in front of a bedroom of a house in Sentul here on July 16 last year and January 9.

The charges are under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to 10 years, or a fine, or whipping, or any two of the punishments, upon conviction.

The man, who has four children, was also charged under Section 509 of the Penal Code with uttering words intended to insult the victim’s modesty while in a Mercedes-Benz here, between 12.45am and 1am on July 17 last year.

The court granted him bail at RM25,000 with one surety for all the charges.

The accused was also ordered to surrender his passport to the court, and to not intimidate witnesses in the case.

April 27 was set for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Josiendra Abu Senin prosecuted, while lawyer M. Puravalen represented the accused. – Bernama, March 22, 2021
