CYBERJAYA – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission does not intend to interfere in the issue of a “cartel” operating in the police force as it is an internal matter, said chief Datuk Seri Azam Baki.
He said the anti-graft agency is confident in police’s ability and credibility to address the issue, and that Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador has himself stated the problem will be resolved.
“This issue can be addressed by police, and it’s a ‘closed’ issue. So, I don’t think there is a need for MACC to intervene,” he told the press after witnessing the signing of an anti-corruption pledge by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation here today.
Hamid has revealed the existence of a cartel comprising young police officers seeking to dominate the force for their personal benefit and oust him.
It was reported that Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo has questioned whether MACC does not wish to investigate Hamid’s claim. – Bernama, March 26, 2021
