MACC detains Felda firm manager, Johor cooperative secretary

JOHOR BARU – A Felda company manager and a secretary of the agency’s cooperative in Johor have been arrested over alleged bribery and abuse of power.

Sources told Bernama that the 39-year-old manager of a firm in Kulai was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission about 3pm today.

The 50-year-old secretary was nabbed yesterday.

The manager is said to have received more than RM140,000 from a company as a bribe for the award of maintenance work at a Felda oil palm plantation near Mersing, said the sources.

The secretary is alleged to have used his position to get a RM300,000 contract to transport palm oil in Segamat.

Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrests. – Bernama, March 26, 2021
