MIRI – A new Covid-19 fatality at Sibu Hospital today brings Sarawak’s death toll to 108.
The state also detected three new clusters: one each in the northern district of Miri, and Sibu and Sarikei in central Sarawak.
The state Disaster Management Committee (DMC) secretariat said the latest death involved a 57-year-old man who had gout.
The new clusters include Jalan Kingsway in Miri, involving a government department office. An officer with the virus infected 50 others.
The Bulatan Aman Sibu cluster among factory workers saw 43 testing positive, while the Jalan Baji cluster in Sarikei has 20 residents of a housing estate down with the disease.
The state DMC secretariat said contact tracing is being carried out in all three clusters.
There are now 36 active clusters in Sarawak, which also logged 176 fresh cases today.
Sibu has the most infections at 30, followed by Bintulu (25), Miri (19), Sarikei (13), Serian (11), Beluru (10) and other districts (single digits). – The Vibes, March 31, 2021
