KUALA LUMPUR – New Covid-19 infections dropped slightly today to 1,070 from a total of 1,349 yesterday.
This takes the cumulative number of cases in the country to 352,029.
There were also seven fatalities to the coronavirus today, taking the death toll to 1,295.
Of the new cases, only nine cases were imported.
A total of 180 cases are in intensive care, with 89 requiring breathing support.
Meanwhile, Selangor overtook Sarawak to become the state with the highest number of cases logged today with 327.
This was followed by Sarawak with 225 cases, Penang (133), Kuala Lumpur (88), Sabah (65), Johor (55), Pahang (37), Kedah (34), Kelantan (31), Melaka (25), Labuan (17) and Negri Sembilan (12).
Only Perak (8), Putrajaya (8), Terengganu (3) and Perlis (2) logged cases in the single-digits.
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry has identified six new clusters today, five of which involve workplaces.
They are Lorong Dua (Selangor), Taman Komersial (Selangor), Jalan Inovasi (Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya), Jalan Mata Kuching (Melaka) and Persiaran Utama (Negri Sembilan).
The other cluster, Bukit Sera (Kedah), involves the community.
Ten clusters also ended today, meaning there are now 355 active clusters. Cumulatively, Malaysia has recorded 1,411 clusters to date. – The Vibes, April 5, 2021
