BUKIT MERTAJAM – A PKR Youth exco has lodged a police report against Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for using a ‘nickname’ while he was serving as home minister.
Ong Jing Cheng, who is also Bukit Mertajam PKR Youth chief, lodged the police report at the Seberang Perai Tengah district police station today.
According to Ong, the use of pseudonyms while serving in government is contrary to the Ministerial Functions Act 1969, which requires the use of names as in identity cards.
“Therefore, I came to the police station today to ask the police to investigate the use of (his) name by (Muhyiddin) while serving as home minister.
“I would also like to ask the relevant parties to investigate or open an investigation paper as it is also an offense under the Movement Control Order Act @ Act 342 when the home minister – now Prime Minister – uses a false name when entering government premises,” he said.
Last Friday, the Shah Alam High Court quashed the detention order signed by Muhyiddin during his time as home minister under the Pakatan Harapan government last year.
This is because the minister signed it using his “glamour name” which is Muhyiddin Mohd Yassin and not the name on his MyKad, which is Mahiaddin Md Yasin.
Following that, Judicial Commissioner Norsharidah Awang allowed the habeas corpus application of Awang Sari Lasikan, who hails from Sabah – a general worker detained under an order signed by Muhyiddin on March 10 last year. – The Vibes, April 5, 2021
