ALOR STAR – The Kedah government has denied that the sludge water supply problem, which occurred in Baling, originated from Syarikat Air Darul Aman.

Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said the sludge water is from a “community tap”, whose water has become murky due to the rainy season in the state.

“The catchment pond from the community tap water is not well-maintained, causing garbage and sludge to enter the piping system.

“Water from the community tap is usually located on a hill, and it (the tap) is an initiative from the villagers themselves.”

Sanusi said the state government will help repair and upgrade the damaged pipes for the convenience of Baling residents.

Yesterday, more than 100 residents in Kg Tg Pari and Kg Batu Lapan in Baling had on social media claimed that they have to use sludge water for daily use.

They alleged it stemmed from recent rampant logging activities in the area.

Sanusi had previously said Penang may have to use sludge water if it refuses to pay raw water charges to Kedah. – The Vibes, April 7, 2021
