KUALA LUMPUR – Pakatan Harapan has agreed that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will lead the opposition charge in the 15th general election.

In a statement, the PH leadership said it decided in a series of meetings last night and today that the PKR president will be its prime minister candidate.

It also urged Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to promptly advise the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to reconvene Parliament and end the state of emergency imposed to contain Covid-19.

The PH leadership pledged to further strengthen the coalition in the run-up to GE15, and further prove its ability to govern and rule the country with trust, democracy and fairness.

“We will mobilise all elected representatives and state leaders to use all their potential and capabilities to address policy issues related to economic recovery and the well-being of the people.

“We will also continue the process of engaging with all stakeholders to form the PH manifesto.”

A series of state tours will be held to brief the people on PH’s stance and its take on issues relating to the economy, political stability and the Covid-19 crisis, said the statement.

“We will take an open stance to consult and cooperate with any party, based on the principles of the reform agenda, in the interest of the people.”

PH said it recognises the potential and importance of Sabah and Sarawak as new engines of economic growth, and gave an assurance on the equitable distribution of resources in view of the development of Indonesia’s new capital in Kalimantan. – The Vibes, April 9, 2021
