IPOH – Four individuals have been remanded for six days, starting today, to facilitate investigations into the submission of false claims involving government contracts worth RM3.7 million.
Magistrate Noor Azreen Liana Mohd Darus granted the remand order against the two men and two women, aged between 41 and 49.
The Perak Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, in a statement, said the four were arrested in Taiping and Kedah’s Bandar Baharu about 8am yesterday.
“The arrests are in connection with the case of two companies forging bank seals and the signatures of bank officers, and submitting false bank statements with fake receipts.
“It was for the purpose of getting tenders for cleaning buildings and other places belonging to government departments between 2017 and 2020.”
It said the project awarded to one company was worth RM1.6 million, and another for the second firm, RM2.1 million. – Bernama, April 9, 2021
