KOTA KINABALU – Sabah PKR head Datuk Christina Liew has been urged to clarify the party’s position for when Warisan cuts its informal alliance with opposition pact Pakatan Harapan (PH).
Sabah PKR Youth chief Raymond Ahuar said Liew must hold a discussion with the party chapter, since the youth and women wings are opposed to continuing to work with Warisan.
“Sabah PKR branch leaders have long rejected working with Warisan, but are tied to Liew’s decision to keep working with the party.
“Sabah PH will hold a meeting on April 12 to discuss its direction with Warisan, but I think there is a need for Sabah PKR to have a meeting before that.
“I am sure that our youth and women wings will reject collaborating with Warisan, and I hope Liew will make a wise decision to not turn her back on the stance by the two wings,” he said in a statement today.
Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal had recently announced his decision to dissociate from PH.
Ahuar said Shafie’s move is expected as Warisan seems to have its own agenda, including becoming the proxy for former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
He added that Dr Mahathir and Shafie did not want PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to become prime minister despite it being a part of PH’s manifesto in the 2018 general election.
“The rakyat are wise in judging Warisan’s betrayal, thus causing the party to fall in the state election last year.
“PH cannot take the risk to work with those who break their promises and betray the people’s trust. Otherwise, PH will face the same punishment as Warisan did in the state polls.”
