KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia logged 1,767 fresh Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative number to 363,940.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said twelve fatalities were also recorded, taking the death toll to 1,345.
Of the new cases, only nine were imported.
A total of 1,290 cases have recovered, while 199 remain in intensive care and 82 require breathing support.
Sarawak recorded the highest number of cases at 607, followed by Selangor (483), Kuala Lumpur (133), Sabah (117) and Kelantan (103).
Penang detected 92 cases, followed by Johor (74), Kedah (39), Perak (36), Negri Sembilan (29), Melaka (17) and Pahang (14).
Terengganu recorded 13 cases, while Putrajaya logged (7) and Labuan (3).
Perlis did not record any new cases today.
Dr Noor Hisham said 21 cases today are related to clusters in detention centres involving the Jalan Salleh with 11 cases, Jalan Harapan prison (7), and Telok Mas (3) clusters.
He said Sabah and Sarawak recorded four deaths each, while Selangor recorded three and Terengganu logged one fatality.
So far, the country has recorded a total of 1,478 clusters, including nine clusters today.
Clusters that have ended are at 1,134, including 10 clusters today comprising the Jalan Sekerat, Jalan Taiping, Meha construction site, Jalan Nusa Mega, Cyber 72, Jalan Industri Tiga Pontian, Taman Alam, Bukit Kiara construction site, Buloh, and Pasai clusters.
Of the 344 active clusters, 62 clusters have recorded new cases. Clusters that have seen the highest new cases are the Persiaran Cybersouth construction site cluster with 137 cases, Jalan Puncak Borneo cluster (60) and Jalan Bambangan cluster (47).
Dr Noor Hisham said four of the new clusters are related to work places, three from the community, one from a religious activity, while another came from a detention centre.
Sarawak recorded the Jalan Puncak Borneo cluster in Kuching with 61 cases, while Kuala Lumpur saw the Jalan Hishamuddin cluster in Lembah Pantai with nine cases, and the Jalan Raja Laut cluster in Lembah Pantai, Cheras, Kepong and Titiwangsa with 20 cases.
Putrajaya logged the Lebuh Wawasan cluster with 11 cases, while Sabah saw the Tabanak cluster in Lahad Datu with 15 cases, and the Kg Gayang cluster in Tuaran with 23 cases.
Melaka detected the Taman Malim Jaya cluster in central Melaka and Jasin with 13 cases, while Johor saw the Jalan Salleh cluster in Muar with 23 cases, and Negri Sembilan logged the Jalan Bukit Belida cluster in Seremban with 15 cases. – The Vibes, April 13, 2021
