KUALA LUMPUR – Interstate travel is allowed for those who need to bring their dependents to Covid-19 vaccination appointments, said Khairy Jamaluddin.
In a tweet, the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister said the National Security Council has given the green light for one person per family to cross state lines to ensure such appointments are kept.
“For example, a son who is working in KL can return to Rembau (in Negri Sembilan) to bring his elderly mother to get vaccinated.”
Interstate travel is not allowed even in areas designated as green zones, with the Health Ministry reported to still be “sensitive” about the matter after the leeway granted last December resulted in 32 new coronavirus clusters.
The conditional movement control order (CMCO) in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Penang and Kelantan has been extended to April 28.
The CMCO in Sarawak, which was supposed to end on April 12, will now end only on April 26. The state is also expected to impose the stricter MCO on five districts.
Other states are observing the more relaxed recovery MCO until April 28.
“Interstate travel is still not allowed. Only tourism activities and travelling between RMCO states are allowed through the green travel bubble, which has to be done via tourism agents or companies,” said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on Monday. – The Vibes, April 15, 2021
