KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia recorded 2,341 fresh cases of Covid-19, bringing the total caseload since the pandemic began to 379,479, Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
With three people succumbing to the virus today, the death toll is now at 1,389.
The day’s fatalities took place in Selangor, Sarawak and Sabah.
Sarawak topped the list again with 600 cases, followed by Selangor (539), Kelantan (429), Kuala Lumpur (344) and Johor (102).
Penang logged 92 cases, followed by Sabah (82), Kedah (44), Perak (34), Melaka (19), Pahang (17), Negri Sembilan (17) and Terengganu (15).
Putrajaya recorded three cases, followed by Perlis (3), and Labuan (1).
The country also recorded 1,592 recoveries today, pushing the total discharged to 356,816.
Seven of the new cases today were imported, of which two are locals and five are non-citizens.
Of the 21,268 active cases, 249 are under intensive care while 95 require breathing assistance.
Dr Noor Hisham said four cases today were recorded in detention centres involving the Jalan Salleh (3) and Tembok Sri Aman (1) clusters.
The country has so far registered 1,541 clusters, including seven new ones today.
A total of 1,201 clusters have ended, including seven today: the Jalan Industri Sofa, Andromeda, Nanga Bulo, Tapak Bina Jalan Salak, Industri Sg Gadut, Jalan Changkat Jong and Jalan Awang clusters.
Of the 340 active clusters, 67 saw new cases. The clusters with most cases are the Pulai Chondong cluster (79), Kg Domis cluster (51) and Sg Rian (47).
Sarawak logged the Kg Tengah Betong cluster with 15 cases, and Sg Rian cluster in Meradong with 48 cases.
In Selangor, the Jalan Meranti cluster in Hulu Selangor and Gombak had nine cases, while Kuala Lumpur recorded the Taman Dato Senu cluster in Kepong and Titiwangsa with 12 cases.
Kelantan saw the Jalan Pasir Mas-Pohon Tanjung cluster in Pasir Mas and Tanah Merah with 28 cases, while Penang recorded the Jalan Padang Lallang and Hala Kg Jawa in Seberang Prai with nine and 23 cases, respectively. – The Vibes, April 20, 2021
