KUALA LUMPUR – The enhanced movement control order (EMCO) will be imposed at Maahad Tahfiz Al-Quran Wal Qiraat (MTAQ), Pulai Chondong, Machang, Kelantan from tomorrow until May 4, said Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
In a statement, he said the decision was made due to the sudden spike of Covid-19 cases at the locality.
“At present, the Health Ministry conducted 243 screenings, of which 97 returned with positive results,” he said.
On another development, he said the EMCO at Sarawak’s Sri Aman prison and its staff quarters will end as scheduled tomorrow.
The EMCO in Kampung Batu Gong, Siburan Serian, Sarawak meanwhile ends today instead of April 23 following a significant drop in cases.
Separately, Ismail Sabri said 110 individuals were arrested yesterday for breaching movement curbs, of which 108 were issued compounds and two remanded.
Most of the cases were due to failure to wear a mask (34), followed by failure to check in at premises using the MySejahtera app or through other means (32), failing to observe social distancing (17), unauthorised interstate or inter-district travel (1), and other offences (26).
